Window Tint Buyer’s Guide: Ceramic vs. Carbon vs. Dyed

Not all window tint is created equal. Here’s how ceramic, carbon, and dyed films compare on heat rejection, clarity, and price — and which is right for your car.

Freshly tinted vehicle windows

Choosing window tint comes down to three film types. The right pick depends on how much heat you want to block and your budget.

Ceramic tint

Ceramic films reject the most infrared heat without interfering with GPS or cell signal. They’re the premium choice for daily comfort.

Carbon tint

Carbon offers a deep matte finish and solid heat rejection at a mid-range price, and it won’t fade purple over time.

Dyed tint

Dyed film is the most affordable option and great for looks, but it blocks less heat than ceramic or carbon.
